Solvent adhesive in UAE summer

The most important adaptation for solvent adhesive use in UAE summer conditions is managing the dramatically reduced open time. At 40°C workshop temperature with any air movement, solvent adhesive on a prepared PVC surface can reach the over-dry state in 20–30 seconds far less than the 120 seconds typical at European conditions. Work in smaller sections (maximum 300–400mm at a time), pre-position materials before applying adhesive, and have two operators working together one applying adhesive, one ready to join immediately. Store solvent adhesive in a cool location and check viscosity before use; tins stored at UAE summer temperatures develop higher viscosity and faster evaporation that further reduces working time.

Polyurethane adhesive mixing and pot life

Two-component PU adhesives must be mixed in the correct ratio immediately before use. At UAE summer temperatures, pot life the working time after mixing before the adhesive becomes too viscous to apply is reduced to 15–25 minutes from the 30–45 minutes typical at 20°C.
